It’s been almost 4 years ago since I published my first book, What the Heart Wants, Soulmate #1 (my publiversary is November 26th so keep an eye out for a giveaway around this date 😉 ). While this may not seem like a lengthy amount of time, in this ever-growing market of indie books, 4 years is more like a decade.
With so many great books available and just as many beautiful covers attached to these books, I felt it was time for a change. So what does this mean? Well, I’ve decided to change the covers of my Soulmate books.
Coming to this decision was difficult. I like my current covers. Always have. Yet they’ve never had a true ‘paranormal’ feel to them. In the recent weeks, I couldn’t help but notice every time I’ve been on Amazon that my covers, no matter how unique they may be, are hard to read at thumbnail size.
Personally, if I’m scrolling through Amazon and noticing other books in the recommendation queue, I pay little attention to the ones with hard to read titles. I know I’m not the only person who does this. If you read any book marketing blog, you’ll see experts recommending covers have easy to read text at any size, especially thumbnails.
Soulmate Series covers are failing in this aspect.
There are many reasons for my decision to change the covers…and I’ve made the changes. Now it’s time to present them to the world. As loyal blog readers, you are among the first to see the new covers. I will be uploading them to Amazon today, and I’m in the process of redoing the paperback version. If you own one of my paperbacks with the current covers, consider yourself the owner of a limited edition item. 😉
*Note: While I kept the image for What the Desires, Soulmate 4, I did change the layout and text.
Without further ado, I’d like to present the new Soulmate Series covers
So what do you think? Do you like the new covers? Which is your favorite?
All of the new covers are beautiful and creative but I think that book four is still my favorite. It gives the reader an inside look as to the dinamic of the three main characters and what each mean to each other.
Thanks for commenting, Kimberly. I do love the new covers, but I’ve always been partial to Soulmate #4 too. Each of my covers tell a tale, one that I hope to share in blog posts in the future. Thanks for stopping by.
I love the new covers, they really stand out. I loved your old ones too. I think your books are amazing so they would be great no matter what you put on there. Your writing is what brings me back over and over again.
I appreciate you saying so, Tracy. I will always love my original covers, but I do feel the new ones fit the genre more. It would be nice if we lived in a world where books weren’t judged by their covers. Unfortunately we don’t, and as with anything in life, we have to evolve and change. I’m teaching myself every day that change is good. 🙂 Thanks for stopping in.
Although I absolutely love the original covers, I have to admit I do like the new ones. The color background for the titles really make the whole cover pop and much easier to read. I love the updated photos, but not crazy about the photo used on book three. Overall, you did a wonderful job and I am excited to read the next book.
I have to agree with you, Dawn. The color does make the title pop and easier to read. Sorry to hear you don’t like the photo for Soulmate #3. I felt it was the best choice and will explain more about my covers and the stories behind them in future blog posts. While it may not change your mind about the new photo, it will explain why it was chosen. I appreciate your comment. <3 Thank you for stopping by.
When will book 5 be released? Love the books. I am 68 and my 17 year old granddaughter is also anxious for the next book.
Hi Linda, thank you for reading the series! I’m currently writing book 5 and hope to release it later this year. I don’t have tentative date yet, but as soon as I do, I’ll announce it. Be sure to check back, or you can subscribe to my blog post, newsletter, or follow me on Facebook. I hope you enjoy the next installment of the series. I appreciate you stopping by and leaving a comment.
do you know when you release the 5th book of the soulmate series yet
Hi Michelle,
Thank you for reading the series. 🙂 The 5th book will be releasing in the next few months. I have a few chapters left to write then edits. My goal is March, but don’t hold me to that. Life happens and puts me behind schedule sometimes, but I am working on it. It’s currently sitting at 108k words. If you’re subscribed to my newsletter, a part of my ARC team, or if you follow me on Facebook, I’ll be updating those platforms first when I release. If you have any further questions, please let me know. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!
